Important Changes: Sentinel Coming To End Of Life

As most of you know, the ‘Sentinel’ software was based on CES Touch v8.6. The aim of this newsletter is to let you know that Sentinel is now coming to End of Life.

Touch v8.6 was first released back in 2008 and is now almost 10 years old. Since that time we’ve released Touch v8.8 (back in 2012) and Touch v9.0 (September 2016). When v8.8 was released we stopped developing new features to v8.6 but still supported it and released patches for emergency issues.

We have been working very hard over the years to continually add new features and improvements to all of our software solutions. We always endeavour to benefit our dealer network with increased revenue opportunities along with increased features and stability. Touch v9.0 has much improved features including:

Further to our Newsletter at the beginning of the year as of June 1st 2017 Sentinel will no longer be a supported version. From that date onwards we will no longer issue any licenses for the Sentinel version for new customers. YCR have taken the decision not to move forward with Touch version 9 and we feel it would be wrong to continue issuing new licences for an unsupported version.

We are offering a free upgrade to Touch v9 for all Sentinel customers. The upgrade process is simple and painless, just download the upgrade installer from the link below and run the installer to upgrade in minutes.

For new licence sales we now have two options to offer.

Offer 1 – Purchase software outright with a one off payment with or without a dongle – £180+vat including 2 modules of your choice from the selected list, (Accounts & Customers, Bookings, Stock, or Table Planner).

Offer 2 - SaaS model with a recurring annual fee to compete with other providers of the same model – £80+vat for the first year followed by £60+vat annually. This model includes 4 modules (Accounts & Customers, Bookings, Stock, or Table Planner).

Q: Do you need to have an active internet connection for Touch Version 9?

A: No you do not, Touch will run happily offline

Q: What are the benefits if Touch is run online?

A: Version 9 can run without a dongle connected using a machine generated unique code that utilises an online licence system

A: No more typing in long licence codes, the online licence system does that for you

A: Ability to change the expiry date and stop the licence working (can be very useful if an end users account is in arrears)

Q: Is it true that Version 9 is only available on a recurring fee annual licence?

A: No Version 9 can be purchased outright as a one off payment

Q: What are the benefits of the recurring fee annual licence model?

A: The initial software costs for the first year are roughly a third of the cost of purchasing the software outright

A: Entitles you to the 4 main modules as standard, Customer/Accounts, Stock, Table Planner & Bookings

A: For customers on the recurring fee model they will automatically be entitled to upgrade to the next major release and benefit from all the new features

Q: How do you upgrade from sentinel to Version 9?

A: Using a simple upgrade installer wizard, double click and press next a few times.

A: Email the licence details through to to request the licence is updated for Version 9

Q: What other benefits are there for upgrading to Version 9?

A: Direct support available from CES the software specialists rather than having to go through a third party

A: Option to link system up to our online cloud based system that increases the monthly revenue the dealer can generate

Q: How much will it cost to upgrade Sentinel (8.6) to Version 9?
